Light of the World

I can’t paint without being acutely aware of the light which makes things visible, whether it be natural light or the hidden Light that is even brighter. If we can be excited by those things around us even by the illumination of an overcast sky, how much more than having eyes open to understand the Light that has abolished death. This is the week when many celebrate the dark spirit of death in the United States, and other places – but it is also an opportunity to shine the true Light that has overcome the world.

There is no Salvation outside of Christ, and He is the Light, the true Light which Lightens everyone born into the world - John 1:9 Let us turn to Him!

One Satisfies

Our curious minds are drawn by many things, even during election seasons. People fasten on promises that cannot be kept. Today, Israel is electing leadership. But there is always frustration in the results, when one heavily invests in political aspirations. There is only one, who satisfies, Christ Jesus – Y’shua, Salvation and the Glory of Israel: Luke 2:32

We are called to turn to Him from ourselves. And turn we must. “This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.” - excerpt from the real Lord’s prayer in John 17:3

"Redeem the time"

How would you spend your time if you knew that you had only 24 hours to live, or seven days, and not in a debilitated state. How would you use your time, knowing the value of that temporal length of event? I often look at things and have seen myself waste an awful lot of time! Doing stuff that ended up being wasteful, meaningless or even negative, and comparing with saying, doing or noting things that have had a lasting positive effect.

I put an edge in that emphasis to try and draw out the critical importance of time passing. We take much for granted, like breathing, but If we pinch our noses and close our mouths, we would quickly discover how important it is to breath. So, I have discovered that it is important for me to continue painting. I haven’t painted much in the last month and I can see it has affected my thinking. When I paint, I’m constantly reminded about the fruit of the Holy Spirit; love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control - Galatians 5:22. Painting stimulates fruitfulness, because I’m able to meditate on the Presence and glory of God while I paint. Perhaps this is the reason I wish for my paintings to be filled with light.

Just a Little Note

It’s been a good while since I wrote my last posting.

I have moved to a lovely little studio in the heart of Ashe County, North Carolina. And it’s been nine months settling in to a new environment, very safe for someone disabled. I no longer have an excuse to procrastinate and will use the blocks of time ahead to flesh out my website which may take quite some time.

While I might not be able to travel and explore like I used to, I have discovered that you can travel and explore via satellite, observing beautiful textures of what’s left of the beautiful planet we inhabit. One example is seen in a painting I did not so long ago, of Rhub al-Khali, the largest contiguous desert, located in Saudi Arabia and I was able to see it without a passport from 500 miles above. No doubt the Anglicized version of this area will probably be known as Rhubarb Ali.

I explore different places quite often, using Google Earth, and I’m struck by the beauty which we so easily defecate. Just yesterday I was reading how mountaineers going up Everest, readily trash what they are attracted by. Isn’t that what scientists do, when they send out satellites landing probes? Trash in like manner? We are the wrong stewards of such a beautiful creation. “Come quickly, Lord Jesus!”
