March 7
We had a little frost which ‘burned’ the blossom emerging at Brookgreen, most notably the Tullip Tree that was seriously showing off. Talk about having your wings clipped!
Now that it is back in good shape I decided to express my affections for it in watercolors. The medium allows for a very detailed approach to the pointelism, which I can draw upon (pardon the pun) from my architectural background.
Continuing with the same medium the following painting is another 5″ x 7″ miniature which with matting is 11″ x 14″ plus frame. The spring overtures are definately pushing in now and the next few weeks promises to be a period of hyperactivity.
The warmth of colors are enhanced by reflecting one another deep within their recesses, giving the appearance of warm embers.
The last few weeks I have been busy doing a measured survey of Huntington’s Atalaya which you can take a peep at on http://kosinskistudio.com/atalaya/march2012/atalaya_3.25.pdf - it’s given me an opportunity to get back into a little architecture and engage with a building that has it’s inspiring elements from Archer Huntington’s travels in Spain and Morocco and my own sojourn in the Middle East was very useful in having a deeper feeling for the building.
